The power of your own healing factors is incredible. Now, treatments exist that create concentrations of these healing factors that can revitalize your hair growth or skin appearance.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) treatments are both great options for your needs.
But, which one should you pick? When it comes down to deciding between PRF vs. PRP, how to choose can be easier than you think.
When It Comes to PRF vs. PRP, How to Choose What Do You Need to Know?
The first step of both therapies is that a blood sample will be removed from the patient. This sample is then used to synthesize a serum that is tailored to the individual patient. The serum is made up of a high concentration of platelets, which will encourage hair growth or skin rejuvenation when injected back into the patient.
There are a few differences between PRP and PRF injections. The blood sample taken for PRF is somewhat smaller than that of the sample taken for PRP. The samples are centrifuged at different speeds to make a slightly different product.
In PRF, this product is a platelet-rich fibrin matrix that has a higher concentration of platelets than PRP. Another difference between the two is that synthesis of PRF doesn’t require the anticoagulant that PRP does.
Basically, PRF is a more advanced, fine-tuned version of PRP. Both are great treatments, but you may be recommended one over the other depending on your area of treatment and other considerations.
